Mastering the Art of Travel - Tokyo

Mastering the Art of Travel Masterclass - Tokyo

Join one of the true masters of portraiture and lighting in an all-new workshop experience in Tokyo. Limited to 8 participants + 1 scholarship recipient, this lucky group will work with the photographer to the stars Greg Gorman in curated settings all over the iconic, picturesque and dramatic city that is Tokyo.

Greg’s lighting techniques, both natural and artificial, and his command of a room, his subjects and situations make him one of the most sought-after photographers to the stars. But in this special workshop we want to get you out of the studio and about in the amazing backdrops that Tokyo has to offer. For that reason, we will be in small
groups together in locations selected by Greg and our director George Nobechi. Working with models and citizens as well as artisans, we will work with reflectors and smaller, portable lights that you can take with you on your next trip so that you can add the art of the travel portrait to your photographic toolkit.

We will stay together in a beautiful art hotel conveniently located in the heart of Tokyo and have access to a wonderful co-working space for photo reviews. Moreover, this workshop partially crosses over on dates with Sam Abell’s street photography workshop, setting us up for our first ever “crossover” event between portraiture and documentary street photography. We will have several group dinners and interactions lined up, making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime, can’t-miss event in the company of two great masters and three very dear friends.

*Note this workshop is not a nudes workshop.
